Camp-let and the story of Eva Gerdes
As a child Eva Gerde spent many cherished family holidays, camping with her parents. Now at the age of 37 and a proud mother with a daughter of her own, Eva is keen to share some of her outdoor experiences with her own family. Despite suffering from a congenital muscle disease, Eva had not given up on her dream to take her daughter camping. For a time this was not possible, as none of the camper / trailer tent manufacturers were producing a model suitable for Eva's needs - that is until Eva discovered Danish manufacturer Camp-let and a solution to her problem, in the form a specially made Camp-let trailer tent / camper.
Eva Gerdes live in Skåne in Sweden with her 9 year old daughter. Eva gets a lot of enjoyment from the time she spends with her daughter outdoors. For Eva and her daughter camping holidays provide valuable time-out for bonding. As big nature watchers camping allows them to experience their natural surroundings close-up and offers a welcome departure from the confines of modern urban living.
On the subject of finding a suitable camper Eva Says, "a standard caravan is excluded because there is too little space to move around with an electric wheelchair and there is a lot of work involved in setting up and packing away. There was really no real solution available to me until I read online about a Danish family who had driven to North Cape with a Camp-let, and how easy it was to have a daughter in a wheelchair in a trailer tent".
Eva decided to visit a camping fair in Bella Centre, in order to take a close look at the Camp-let in person. Eva went immediately to the South Jutland manufactured Camp-let trailer tent and soon discovered just how suitable the Camp-let could be. Eva says, "the kitchen of the Camp-let was the perfect height for wheelchair use. Remaining as independent as possible was an essential consideration.".
There was however one problem; there was not enough space available to accommodate Eva's bed lift, which would make it impossible for Eva to get into bed. Camp-let's marketing manager Hans Jorgen Nissen said, "We could see that the lift could be used in a guest cabin, and I was sure we could easily change a little tent and poles to create the necessary space to lift". During Eva's visit to the factory, Camp-let directors, Henry and Arne Nissen were present. They immediately came up with the solution and before anyone had seen it in use, had already devised an even smarter solution. The one bedroom cabin in Eva Gerdes camp-let is now equipped with a shelf and a custom-made mattress. Now using the lift, Eva can be lifted onto the shelf and helped into bed.
Now Eva and her daughter are looking forward to a summer camping in Germany and sailing over to England, where they will be visiting London and camping in the south west. "I can promise you that both Kim and I look forward very much to using our modified Camp-let very soon", says Eva Gerd.
